The Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT has increased to AUD76,515 from AUD73,150. All nomination applications under the Core Skills streams of the Skills in Demand visa subclass 482 and the Employer Nomination Scheme visa subclass 186 will be impacted by this. 

The Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT has also changed to AUD141,210 from AUD135,000. This change is applicable to all nomination applications under the Specialist Skills stream of the Skills in Demand visa subclass 482. 

The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) for the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) subclass 187 and the Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional Visa subclass 494 increased to AUD76,515from AUD73,150. This modification is in line with the CSIT and needs approval from the relevant legislation.

Skilled visa income thresholds increased by 4.6% from 1 July 2025. The changes align with the annual Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE). It follows the commitment of the Migration Strategy recommended by the Migration Review. 

Annual indexing of income thresholds is done to ensure that wages for skilled migrants and Australian workers rise at the same rate. It prevents the replacement of Australian workers by skilled migrants.
