Skilled Migration Program

As proclaimed by the Australian government, two consecutive visas will replace two erstwhile visas, with effect from 16 November, 2019. The primary motive behind the framing of these two visas is only to promote regional migration in Australia. So, let’s have a quick look at the types of the impending visas which will be implemented shortly as well as the two former visa types which they have replaced effectively.

  1. Old Visa: Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489) – first provisional stream
New Visa: Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491)
  2. Old Visa: Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa (subclass 187) – Direct Entry stream
New Visa: Skilled Employer-Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 494)

The government of Australia is in fact quite hopeful to boost up their sphere of regional migration with the help of these two visas.

Benefits of these new visas

When it comes to availing the benefits of the recently framed two visas, there are benefits aplenty for each of you. A few of them can be considered as follows:
Provision of priority processing for regional applications
Provision of extra incentives for those migrants who are willing to stay in Australia for a longer period of time by dedicating the maximum of their workmanship and acumen.

  • Applicants can also apply for the permanent residence visa even without opting for a second nomination stage only if he/she is eligible through the subclass 191 visa (with effect from November 16 2022)
  • Provision of lower cost to employers pertaining to the SAF stage to apply for the subclass 494 visa duly. (in comparison with the two stages of the current subclass 482 to ENS subclass 186 residence pathway)
  • Availability of greater number points for those applicants applying for the 491 visa
  • Availability of a wide range of occupations rather than the regional pathways
  • Consistent and expanded classification of regional areas

Also, the minimum range of taxable income applicable to the 191 and 494 visas is on the verge of being set at the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) unless and until some concessions are agreed in relation to these two visas.

New 6D points will be implemented from November 2019

  • The implementation of the 6D points for the points tested visas will not affect the smooth application process for any applicant or migrant whoever is applying for the same. This particular system will be in effect from 16 November 2019.
  • The points of all the Expressions Of Interest will be updated automatically by the skill select realm in each of their submitted status and won’t impinge the date of effect in any way
  • The skill select will not update points for these EOIs in their draft status since no points have been allotted during this particular stage.
  • The systems functionality is still in the stage of development and in case the agents require any worthwhile information will be provided accordingly.
